About Rabbi-Cantor Sharon Steinberg

Rabbi-Cantor Sharon Steinberg holds ordination as both rabbi and cantor. Her rabbinic credential is through The Rabbincal Academy of America – Adas Mesifta Wolkowisk Seminary. Cantorial studies took place at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music. She additionally attended Loyola College to study pastoral counseling, she holds two degrees in music from Ithaca College (BM) and Indiana University (MM),  and she became a certified energy life coach through IPEC, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.

Rabbi Sharon is currently the spiritual leader of  Shirat Sharon and Temple Beth Shira, located in Boca Raton, FL  As a cantor, Rabbi Sharon served 3 DC Metro congregations – Beth El Hebrew Congregation, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation and Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase, MD from 1992-2013. For Fairfax County, Virginia, she served as a community chaplain for 3 years.

Prior to her calling to the clergy, Rabbi Sharon taught voice and other related music courses on the faculties of University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Community College of Baltimore and the Baltimore School for the Arts.

Rabbi Sharon also successfully pursued an operatic career. Her recital debut at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall was met with critical acclaim. While on a European tour, she sang excerpts from Puccini’s La Boheme which was recorded for and subsequently broadcast on Italian National Television. Rabbi Sharon has sung lead roles with many opera companies and orchestras around the world and she continues to concertize today.
